Drama in Rome! Drama at IC!

We have finished our study of ancient Rome. All the glory, the corruption, the foolish emperors, the technological advancements and the daily life of ordinary Romans. All that was the Roman Empire.

Fascinating stuff! It was a fun way to synthesize all this learning in the form of a play. You have displayed your knowledge of ancient Rome creatively through the creation of an original script and dramatic performance.

I was very impressed with the student enthusiasm throughout this project. The use of costumes and props was imaginative, while the dialogue was historically accurate and relevant to the plot. Generally speaking, the acting was wonderful. Very theatrical!

I hope to do more interesting and artistic projects throughout the remainder of the school year. Next, we will begin learning about the Byzantine Empire.

For now, have a restful and relaxing holiday with your families. And, enjoy the photos from the performances!

Test Preparation

Good morning! I'd like to remind you of a few things as you prepare for the test on Monday.

As you know, the test will cover Chapter 9 (Section 1 Daily Roman Life, Section 2 Rise of Christianity and Section 3 The Fall of Rome). The test will have matching, multiple choice, short answer and short essay sections.

Please keep the following things in mind as you study this weekend.

Know the important cause/effect relationships as they relate to daily roman life, Christianity, and the fall of Rome (there are many here).
Know the key terms/definitions and be able to express them in your own words

Study Tips
Reread your notes
Reread the chapter
Ask someone to quiz you on your notes
Practice writing topic sentences, cause/effect sentences and conclusion sentences for various paragraphs in the three sections
Review the chapter hand-outs
Take breaks between study sessions
Eat and sleep well

Have a great weekend and I'll see you Monday!

Well Done!

Great class discussion today! There were many relevant and interesting questions. The topic of religion naturally comes into the discussion regarding historical events. Especially concerning the first century C.E. in the Roman Empire. Please keep in mind that ours is a history class, therefore we concern ourselves with historical facts. We will learn about important religious figures in the context of historical periods and civilizations. The more complex questions about faith should be directed to your family members.

I'm very pleased with the enthusiasm toward history in class this week. Have a great weekend!
